So, it’s happened: the
sun has officially clocked out before we’ve even had dinner, and now we're left in a sea of darkness by 4 PM. Thanks, Daylight Savings. Because who doesn’t love feeling like it’s midnight when it’s barely time for afternoon tea? 😅
But hey, just because it’s dark
outside doesn’t mean your creativity has to go into hibernation. Here are four foolproof (and fun) ways to keep your creative spark burning bright—even if the sun isn’t helping us out.
1. Embrace the
Glow-Up
If the sun won’t shine, bring your own light! Create a cozy, inspiring space with warm lighting—think fairy lights, candles, or even a funky desk lamp. The right ambiance can make a world of difference, turning your workspace into a creativity cave. After all, who says you can’t make masterpieces by the glow of a salt lamp?
2. Switch Up Your Schedule
Instead of fighting the early darkness, why not work with it? Try experimenting with your schedule to find those moments when you feel most inspired. Morning person? Dive into your creative projects with the daylight. Night owl? Lean into the evening
hours with a cozy setup. Sometimes, just shifting your routine can unlock new bursts of creativity.
3. Take Mini Creative Breaks
Short days can sometimes drain our energy and focus,
so take mini “creative recharges” throughout the day. Whether it’s a quick doodle session, a five-minute journaling break, or a brisk walk outside while there’s still a hint of daylight—these little breaks can keep your mind fresh and ready to dive back into bigger projects.
4. Connect with Like-Minded Creatives and DCT
The early darkness can feel isolating, so stay connected! Schedule virtual hangouts or brainstorming sessions with other creatives, or share your work online to keep that sense of community alive. Creativity thrives when it’s shared, and who knows? You might inspire each other to make something amazing out of these long, dark
evenings.
